Laura is passionate about social sustainability, participatory practice and design for care.

She completed her MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design at Cambridge University. Her thesis research explored a radical approach to secondary education in the UK, with a wider aim to inspire active citizenship and allow the engagement process to live beyond the design process, in order to empower communities and young people. She believes that there should be greater emphasis on community in school design and education, as it offers more than solutions to learning, but solutions to our cities. The pandemic has proved an even stronger argument for sharing educational and spatial resources – the inadvertent relevance of her thesis grounded her passion for social sustainability, particularly during a time of extraordinary planetary crisis.

In practice, Laura really enjoys working in such a forward thinking team, whose approach to designing alongside nature resonates with her own ethos to design responsibly. Having grown up in Yorkshire, she can often be found either exploring the great outdoors, or in a pub with friends – both in equal measure.
