Bunhill 2 lauded as a high quality, innovative addition to London’s architecture

As a team, we are thrilled that Bunhill 2 Energy Centre has won the New London Awards Environmental Prize. This award recognises the most sustainable projects in the capital and is selected from across all entry categories.

The energy centre offers a new paradigm for capturing and using heat that would otherwise be wasted, to convert it to heating and hot water to help eradicate fuel poverty in Islington, and cooling to mitigate the increasing problem of overheating in the London Underground network. As an Islington practice we feel truly honoured that we are in some small way helping our local community, as well reducing carbon emissions and improving air-quality for our city.

We are so pleased that the prize has not only recognised these qualities, but has also lauded its contribution as a high quality, innovative addition to the city’s architecture, celebrating a new form of urban infrastructure that will become increasingly prevalent and necessary.
