2021 Open House Festival

We – and our fellow Foundry co-workers – can’t wait to welcome Open House visitors to the Foundry again this year. Over the past year, the Foundry has become a thriving multi-disciplinary hub for innovative organisations working in the built environment – reflecting the collaborations needed in the construction industry going forward.

Named the Foundry in a nod to the building’s original life as an iron works, we converted this canal-side Victorian warehouse into a low-energy, low-carbon office in 2012, retaining 80% of the existing fabric. The building required radical change to provide a naturally ventilated workspace, whilst retaining and celebrating locally-listed elements such as the timber roof trusses.

In 2021, with homeworking now a permanent part of our culture going forward, we took the opportunity to create a co-working hub at the Foundry, welcoming several organisations looking to expand their networks and collaborate on joint initiatives.

The Foundry will be open for Open House from 4 – 7pm on Friday 10th September. Join us and our hub co-workers for a range of activities, including tours, talks, exhibitions and a balloon race workshop for kids. The event is totally free, but we are asking visitors to pre-book via the Open House website.

Now in it’s 30th year, the Open House London Festival is a huge city-wide celebration of openness and exploration, run by Open City. We wholeheartedly support Open City in their mission to make London and its architecture more open, accessible and equitable by engaging all citizens, particularly from under-represented backgrounds in architecture and city-making.

We look forward to telling you more about this exciting canal-side workspace.
